Dunford Deck

Customer contacted CFC Fences & Decks to take down their old deck and replace it with a new Trex Transcends 131 square foot deck. This was the first Trex Transcends deck installed by CFC Fences & Decks since the Transcends Series was released in spring 2010.

Tree House color was chosen from the Transcends Series with an additional specialty installed Trex Rain Escape Drainage System. This allows liquids to drain through the deck boards into the Rain Escape product that steers the liquids into a down spout connected to the house. This prevents things from getting wet below if a deck is installed overhead a walking or sitting area. Railing installed on this deck was Transcends Designer Series color being Tree House.

Trex Decking Installed in South Jordan Utah

This deck is a backyard lover’s dream. It’s multilevel, has a porch swing, hammock, grill, dining area, and covering over the top half. It weighs in at over 700 sq. feet. We finished installing it in South Jordan Utah in July and the home owners love it. I talked with a couple of the kids who say their dad spends every night reading on the deck now and they’re always outside now. They’ve even cooked outside every night for a week.

Now, you may consider this deck to be outside of your price range, but we have the most competitive prices around for Trex Decking products. Also, we’re Utah’s only Trex Pro Platinum dealer, meaning that you have access to Trex’s warranty that now covers installation (if installed by a Pro Gold or Pro Platinum dealer).

Trex Transcend Deck Draper Utah

This deck was a pleasure to install. The homeowners, of Draper Utah, said that they wanted a deck that could withstand the wear and tear of their dogs while also looking great and helping them see their spectacular view. We recommended that they have a raised deck with iron railing so that their view isn’t obstructed and they could see over the Salt Lake Valley without any issues.

With Trex Transcend it’s easy to clean off dirt and muddy dog prints. Just take the hose and wash it off. If it’s particularly bad use some soapy water and clean everything up with a soft bristled brush.

What would you do for this view?

Trex Transcend Deck in Alpine Utah

We recently finished a Trex Transcend deck in Alpine Utah. While this deck is fairly straightforward, it has a unique story behind it. It’s owners live near the base of the Wasatch front. In July 2012, their community was threatened to be destroyed by the Quail Fire. Their home was evacuated only weeks before they had their new deck installed.

Luckily however, the wind changed and the fire was blown up to mountain where it avoided their area. Shortly thereafter the fire was extinguished and their home was safe. Our crews came up and installed this beautiful Trex Transcend Gravel Path deck with Vinyl railing.

Trex Accents Decking and Mini Winds Fence

A little while ago we installed a Trex Accents deck in Holladay Utah. At first we were honestly a little bit skeptical of the design of the deck. The homeowner wanted built in planters along the perimeter of the deck, in some places he even wanted them to extend beyond his deck. Also, the home owner wanted a bench to extend just beyond the perimiter of his deck.

Our design team took this challenge seriously and worked with the homeowner to come up with the perfect style ideas. The project turned out great. The deck is complimented greatly by the his mini winds fence we installed earlier.

What do you think of this unique project?

Trex/Diablo Composite Decking Saw

This article was first published as a Trex Company press release on May 24, 2012…

Trex Company, the world’s largest manufacturer of wood-alternative decking and railing products, announced that it has entered into a licensing agreement with Freud America to introduce the first saw blade specifically designed for cutting composite decking materials. Diablo, Freud’s premier brand of construction tools, will be introducing the new blade series for maximum performance and highest quality of finish when cutting composite decking materials.

“Through our agreement with Freud America/Diablo, we’re addressing the needs of both contractors and do-it-yourselfers, who for 20 years have not had the opportunity to purchase a saw blade designed with the efficiency, longevity and precision to cut composite materials,” said Ronald W. Kaplan, chairman, president and CEO of Trex. “With this blade, we’re not only offering the confidence and security that comes with the industry-leading Trex and Diablo names, but we’re also expanding Trex’s brand presence into the tool departments of retailers across North America.”

Proven Performance at a Competitive Price

The Diablo/Trex co-branded blade will be offered in three sizes – 12″, 10″ and 71/4″ – for use on hand-held, miter and table saws. This new saw blade series has a modified triple chip tooth grind design, Perma-SHIELD(R) non-stick coating, and specific TiCo(TM) Hi-Density carbide to deliver maximum performance. In addition, all Diablo/Trex saw blades have a super thin-kerf design which requires less cutting power, making them ideal for underpowered saws at the jobsite.

In fact, Trex and Diablo have conducted extensive field testing among contractors at composite decking job sites to evaluate the performance of the new blade. The tests consistently showed that the blade offers more efficient and cleaner cuts, less “gumming” of blade teeth and greater longevity when compared to standard saw blades currently in the market.

“Both the Trex and Diablo brands are synonymous with high quality and innovation within their respective industries, and we’re proud to partner on the launch of a blade that will be a true first on the marketplace,” said Russell Kohl, President and CEO of Freud Tools. “These new blades provide cleaner cuts with no swirl marks and longer cutting life; making it a ‘must-have’ tool for both professionals and DIYers planning composite decking projects.”

The Trex/Diablo co-branded blade is expected to be available at retail locations in July 2012. For more information about Trex products, visit trex.com.

Favorite Composite Decking Colors 2011

It’s always intersting to get input from people about the products and colors they like best. We asked the attendees at the ASLA meeting to vote on their favorite colors for the new genration decking boards from three major decking manufacturers. Over twenty colors were represented. It was a very informal survey, of course, but here are the results: 1st place: Trex Lava Rock, 2nd place: Fiberon Rosewood, 3rd place: Timbertech Pacific Rosewood. Interestingly, all three vendors were represented in the top three. Close behind were Fiberon Ipe and Trex Spiced Rum. Many of the rest of the boards had at least a couple of votes, but overall the veriagated decking (color streaked) was the most popular.
